I’m sitting in the 2008 Handheld Learning Conference 200 in the Barbican Centre London and I’ve just had all my previous thoughts about computer games in the classroom completely blown away,
Previously I’d just thought that games were just a bit of fun, but I couldn’t see the educational point in therms of actual deep learning. Stephen Johnson the author of “Everything that’s Bad is good for you!.” His arguments about the critical thinking skills that are involved in engaging with these games are really persuasive and compelling.
So much so that I think we’re going to try and move forward on this one! Who would have thought it playing games to learn!
Another interesting aspect is the development of Smarts Synchroneyes and how this can be used in the classroom again changing the whole way that teachers and children nteract – I can’t wait to get back in the classroom and start using it properly.
I’m quite giddy about the whole thing. My heads spinning!
